Project Led by Prof. Jue Wang, Dean of School of Humanities, Southeast University, Was Included in 2018 Major Projects of National Social Science Foundation of China

The National Office of Philosophy and Social Science officially announced the list of 2018 major projects of the National Social Science Foundationlately. The project of “Research on the Construction of China Ethics Database during the 4 Decades of Reform and Opening-up” led by Professor Jue Wang, the dean of the School of Humanities, Southeast University, was approved to kick off with a funding of 800,000 yuan.

        During the past ten years, Professor Jue Wang, as the head of the “National Moral Condition Investigation Center”, has taken the moral development research institute of Southeast University and the Jiangsu MoralDevelopment Think Tank as the platform, and taken the researchers of Ethics and Sociology of Southeast University as the backbone research team to conduct three rounds of ChinaMoral Condition Investigations (2007, 2013, 2017) and four rounds of Jiangsu Moral Condition Investigations (2007, 2013, 2016, 2017), based on which, she and her team hold the biggest and most systematic moral development investigation data in China. This major project will continue to deepen the research results of the previous period. Through multi-dimensional, multi-perspective and multi-disciplinary research, the new ethical knowledge pattern of the big data era will be constructed in a digital humanistic way, and a large-scale ethics database network with professional, authoritative and cutting-edge features will be established, thereby presenting the development track of Chinese ethics and morality in the 40 years of reform and opening up process, providing data support and empirical guidance for the government to formulate moral construction policies, and providing an open platform for information exchange for public participation in Chinese ethical practice.

        Under the new era background and the construction of “Double First-rate”, the university actively plans for the construction of large-scale national projects, large platforms, large teams and large-scale achievements, emphasizing the multidisciplinary integration of humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and engineering sciences, and actively fosters cutting-edge, new emerging and cross-disciplinary research directions, and strives to build a new pattern of one body and two wings research. The enrollment into the list of National Major Projects this time is a kind of best response to theuniversity policy on research and is another major breakthrough in the development of the philosophy and social sciences of this university.
